Pudgerboy Standard Member. That auto restart looks promising - my TV tuners get a bit cranky if i dont restart every once in a while. Click to expand There already is more info on the use of MCE and I will try to complete it in the next few days.
The primary goal of the MST project is to put as many MCEs as possible properly in and out of standby my contribution to the prevention of the greenhouse effect. There are tens, possibly hundreds of reasons why a system won't go standby as its meant to. MST is using several techniques to work around a lot of them. MST is out for a few months by now. I am still working on it. I will be glad to help if there are any questions. If you might have any suggestions on new features or improvements or error reports, please let me know.
At first it didn't seem to do anything but i had been messing around with lots of settings and had Hibernator installed so I started from scratch and now it seems OK. From my understanding you set the Power Settings on your PC as normal I have it to standby after 5 minutes and then MST uses its threshold settings and will override the standby request if the levels are above the thresholds.
Is that right? Can you explain what that the tolerance setting actually does please? I deleted the shortcut and instead placed an entry in the registry under the RUN key and this seems to fix the problem.
After the first resume from standby i find the MST program on the taskbar rather than completely minimized, not really a problem though thought I'd mention it. MST starts up minimized fine with the "tray" switch. I couldn't find the log for the idle events, just the log for MST itself which didn't appear to contain idle events. Would it also be possible to set the location of the log?
It's currently going onto the desktop. The "always restart eHome on resume" option is great. This resolves an issue I was having.
The ability to select where to resume to is also really handy. Occasionally when I resume from standby mnaually my PC resumes to a black screen and nothing works, no remote no mouse nothing so I have to manually power it off and on again. The other problem I've encountered is that when my computer resumes by itself to start a recording it resumes to a black screen, which is fine, moving the mouse brings Windows up but without MCE started, but when I try and start MCE nothing happens and if I wait long enough my PC restarts and obviously I lose the recording.
Cheers Slink. Slinkoff said:. Trifin, Can you post a list of your hardware configuration? Are you using a nForce based motherboard? Wat brand of Videocard are you using? I also had some issues with my machine not going into standby at all so I've re-enabled the Hibernator in conjunction with MST to get round this. Can you recommend some settings for the idle and sensitivity thresholds?
Is that not the case? Now, this is not an issue to me as reading up a bit on this, S4 saves memory to disk and as such appears to be more resillient, though I guess takes a few moments longer than S3 - feel free to correct my limited understanding! My question is; will this software work on S4 as I really would like to be able to use this.
